You’ve got questions, we have resources. We would like to provide you with relevant information regarding improving overall health & mental health wellness. More specifically, we want to ensure that our resources are relevant from a Black perspective.
This includes ensuring that information is helpful in explaining relevant mental health topics and symptoms that are relevant to you. For example, instead of using standard mental health terminology, in many cases, Black Americans may say things such as: “they are working my nerves”, or “I’ve been in a mood lately” to describe their symptoms. Our approach to these differences is to be as culturally responsive as possible by providing relevant fact sheets that describe mental health disorders and information related to diagnoses and symptoms, coping and wellness strategies, and information on accessing treatment.
All of our fact sheets are for informational purposes and are not intended to take the place of mental health treatment or advice from a licensed provider. Black Therapy Today encourages everyone to engage in mental health wellness. If you feel like you are experiencing mental health concerns, we encourage you to seek treatment and/or advice from a licensed mental health provider.
If you are concerned about your mental health or that of someone you care about, please see a licensed mental health provider. If you feel unsafe, have suicidal thoughts, or are in crisis, please go to the nearest hospital emergency room. There is nothing wrong with asking for or seeking help when needed.
